The camp is sited around the springs and poles of a source of the
loolturesh River in the heart of Tsavo West, where
crocodiles and hippo splash. Named after the aristocrat who introduced
royalty to the bush, Finch Hattons Tented Lodge
is considered the suavest and most accomplished
of Kenyas tented camps: fine bone china, cut crystal glasses , chandeliers,
Mozart on a grammophone, impeccable service and food - all in the
middle of the bush!
The 35 large tents, along the
water's edge, surrounded by Yellow barked Acacia Xanthophlea trees,
are most luxurous, with antique commodes, brass
lamps and Afghan rugs. All tents have en suite bathrooms,
brass fittings, large mirrors, WC, hot and cold running water and
showers.
Each tent has a wooden Swahili chest, clothes rack,
and antique writing desk and bookshelves. The tents have electricity,
hairdryer and battery charger outlet for 220v as well as a fully
stocked minibar fridge.
All tents have large deck balconies
with panoramic views of the surrounding springs
and forests, with chairs, tables and a daybed.
There is an elegantly appointed bar,
open all day, a restaurant and a comfortable private
lounge. There is an extensive library of books and an excellent
range of classic music- including Denys Finch Hatton's favorite
selections of Mozart.
