Hippo Point, located on the northern shore of
Lake Naivasha, is a blend of fantasy architecture, from
tiny Hansel and Gretel cottages to a mock Tudor main house and a
Grimm’s fairytale tower. Surrounded on two sides by water,
the estate features two romantic retreats: The Tower and
Hippo Point House. Rated as one of the top retreats in
the world, the eight-story Tower is one of the most luxurious and
less known of Kenyan hideaways.
The 1930's Elizabethan house remains a relic of
colonial Africa. Lovingly restored in 1998 to the highest
standards, Hippo Point has survived to reflect fully the
English colonial romantic character.
Resident buffalo, giraffe, hippo, zebra
and gazelle grazing in the gardens and at the nearby lake,
stand out against the soft, cozy comforts of Russian bed linen and
warm wooden floors and bathtubs.
The Manor House (Hippo Point House)
Eight double bedrooms, a secluded swimming pool, an open gazebo
for invigorating body treatments, and a team of dedicated staff
will provide guests with the perfect base from which to enjoy the
surrounding African wilderness.
The Tower
Custom-built, guests are able to enjoy breath-taking views over Oloidien
Bay and follow at eagle-eye the movements of the hippos grazing at
the foot of the Tower.
A romantic morning breakfast is
served outside, under the towering acacias, while in the evening
intimate candlelit dinners bring the guests back to bygone days
of wild simplicity and unspoiled elegance.
A stay at the Hippo point includes game
drives, game walks, water skiing, mountain biking and fishing in
the Lake Naivasha.
Furthermore the hotel can arrange deep sea fishing,
riding safaris, bird shooting, polo and much more.
Having an own airstrip allows
guests to charter a helicopter or plane to visit all of Kenya's
safari destinations, Masai Mara, Samburu, Amboseli, with
the services of a qualified Professional Safari Guide.
