Situated 320 km north of Nairobi, on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro
River, in the center of the Samburu Game Reserve in
Kenya's vast, semi-arid Northern Province, Samburu Game Lodge echoes
the robust rhythms of riverfront life. Its strategical location
overlooking the river give guests vistas of herds of elephants,
buffalo, zebras and other game which comes to the river to drink.
Samburu Game Lodge’s
unique guest rooms are spread up and down the river in various sizes
of cottages and bandas, with a mixture of decor styles. All rooms
have ensuite bathrooms, and some have verandas overlooking the river.
The lodges offers different kind
of activities: You can do early morning game drives, walking
safaris with Samburu guides, guided bird watch, raft trips when
the river is high, and camel rides.
The surrounding terrain is renowned for rare game - long-necked
Gerunuk, Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe and Beisa oryx. Leopards
are frequent passerby. The lodge has a spacious swimming
pool for cooling down in the heat of the day and a special
game-viewing verandah. Every night, a number of crocodiles
climb up the river bank to the edge of the crocodile bar
and feast on food left out for them...
